History of Abington Woods
Abington Woods has been enjoyed by children since the 1920’s when it was gifted to the Scouting movement by Rev. Woods. He planted the first trees on this then meadow and the beautiful Chapel tucked away at the back of the woodland was created. Abington Woods has now been established as a Community Interest Company with the aim of making this beautiful woodland accessible to all members of the local, wider and international community we are part of.
Abington Woods is ideally located in a rich environment of natural and cultural attractions. There are a variety of walks that pass around the woodland suitable for a range of abilities from serious Duke of Edinburgh expedition trekking to light family routes. Local attractions include; Duxford Air Museum, Audley End Manor House, Wandlebury Nature Park and Linton Zoo.
There are also good links to Cambridge City Centre, namely a frequent bus service and new cycle path. This historical city is full of museums, churches, beautiful university buildings and charming markets, green spaces and bookshops. Not forgetting the famous river winding through its centre.
